Flipping The Switch On FuseBox - Ratio Marketing & Reports
Today, we continue our series spotlighting our FuseBox Marketing Group. FuseBox is like a full-on ad agency: we offer our clients high-end marketing options to help get the best bang for their marketing bucks, with the advantages of working with individual businesses who specialize in their craft, and therefore less overhead. You can learn more about the other members of FuseBox via the FuseBox website.
Today, we talked to Toni Guffei, from Ratio Marketing & Reports, our marketing strategist.
What we love about having Toni in our back pocket, is that she can analyze our customers' marketing, and then provide them with a strategy to really get the most out of the work we provide to them. Very often we produce something for someone, and then never know if it worked or not! So having Toni's advice (and other FuseBox members' help to implement it), can truly help our clients achieve a much higher return on their investment.
Read on to learn more about this energetic professional, in her own words. You can also find her on social media, on Facebook, and LinkedIn.
I've also just realized that not only will these spotlights help our audience get to know our colleagues, but it actually helps ME get to know my colleagues. Double win!
Who are you and what do you do?
I’m Toni Guffei, owner of Ratio Marketing Inc. As a marketing strategist, I work with our clients to gain relevant information to make informed decisions in developing an approach that provides a return on the marketing investment. In short, our company does research, strategy, planning and implementation of traditional and digital marketing within a specific budget.
Tell us more about your background, related to this business (where did your passion came from).
My undergrad degree is in Economics and my MBA had a focus on marketing and technology. My first career job was as a stats analyst at Vancouver Airport. Part of the work I did in this role also involved some PR, so I advanced in a marketing role for regional airports. That’s what lead me to building on my education in marketing. I always joked that I got to where I am today because the wind blew me this way! I have been fortunate in the fact that I have been able to follow my passion and do the type of work that gets me excited (as exciting as stats and marketing can be)!
Explain when and why you started this business.
I started my own consulting practice in 2004 after my career in transportation. Initially, our focus was on the technology sector; but over time, we’re more focused on other industries such as construction, health and wellness and the financial sectors. I started this business so I could work in areas that were of interest to me and these industries are the ones I am more involved in because I enjoy the work and the people.
How rewarding is it for you to be doing what you're doing?
It’s very rewarding to work with companies and help them discover how to optimize their marketing spend. Oftentimes it’s simply a matter of clients not knowing what they don’t know. I get the opportunity to enlighten them and make their marketing more efficient. I’ve done several personality tests and it was the Strength Finder one that demonstrated my number one strength is “Strategic”. Many companies don’t realize marketing is a strategy and an art that also involves psychology. That trio of elements is what I bring to a client’s awareness.
Who are your main customers? Who are your best customers?
We work with growing and changing companies. An ideal client is one that needs to better understand how to leverage their marketing budget. They have been doing marketing on their own or has someone working on it, but they can’t figure out what’s working or how to optimize to attract more customers and get more revenue. I have a depth of expertise in digital marketing methods, having developed content strategies for a variety of companies.
What are you struggling with right now?
I have a virtual assistant and two sub-contractors working on projects with me. But I could use a researcher to assist me.
How can people help you at this point in your work?
Keep an ear open – if you hear of a business owner who needs marketing direction, I would like to talk to them. We have a set of tools that can be customized depending on the company and industry.
Do you have any special promotions or offers going on right now?
I have a special on digital ads. I’m attaching my flyers and this promotion.
