We’ve talked previously about some of the beautiful things fall weddings have to offer. Here are some tips to make your fall wedding go off with only the one hitch that matters most: your own. With the right preparation, you can have an amazing fall event - and these tips go for winter weddings as well!
- Keep an open mind!
This pandemic has shown us that we sometimes don’t get what we want and things can be turned upside down. We have noticed over the years that at nearly every wedding, there are one or two little things that don’t go as anticipated, but with the right planning no one will notice except for you. So don’t sweat the small stuff, and if the sky throws snow at you, go with it and build a snowman or have a gentle snowball fight for your wedding photos!
- Contingencies
Make sure to talk with your venue, event planner, photographer, and other vendors (even hair and makeup!), about what will happen if it snows or rains. While the default for pictures is outside, we always are prepared with studio lights to shoot family photos indoors, and bring an extra umbrella or two for the bride and groom for an outdoor photoshoot.
- Be prepared for cool and/or wet weather
Having warm (and preferably grippy!) footwear and garments to put on in case it is cold is definitely recommended for fall (and winter) weddings. Even if you don’t end up needing them, if the temperature does drop, or it snows, you need these to enjoy your day – walking on ice or in snow in stilettos, or freezing your butt off to get that one photo, are not very enjoyable. We want you to really have fun on your wedding day and during our time with you, so you can celebrate with your new spouse and have all the great photos that you had imagined.
