It seems a bit weird to write about fall weddings right now before summer has even begun, and coming right out of winter we at Studio Lumen don't really want to think about that yet. But it seems that many people might not be able to have the summer wedding they'd imagined, and so we thought it might be helpful to share a few nice things about fall weddings. We actually love them!
The Colours
Every locale has its own charm with the fall colours. Back where we are from in southern Ontario, it’s the fiery reds, oranges, and yellows of the deciduous trees that are so stunning. But here in Alberta, the amazing contrast of the poplars and larches on the backdrop of the deep green spruces and pines is no less awe-inspiring. Add to that a little fresh snow on the caps of the mountains, and you have a recipe for breathtaking images.
The Light
When summer gives way to fall, the days start to get shorter, and the sun gets lower in the sky. What this means is never-ending great light, which is so dramatic and beautiful, which not only makes the photos that much more memorable for our clients, but makes finding beautiful light a lot easier.
The Climate
We’re not gonna lie, summer weddings can get hot (why would we have lied in the first place? We don’t lie! But it’s an expression people use), and sticky. And we are not entirely down with the heat. Fall weddings are that perfect balance of still warm during the day for your events and photoshoots, but cool in the evenings, so you can get down and dance with your guests without overheating.
Those are only a few of the things about fall weddings that we can share! There are lots of other reasons to love them (for example, it's easier to find a date), and things to know about how to prepare for them, which we'll share in a future post. In the meantime, if you'd like to chat with us about your fall wedding, please do get in touch!
