Weirdly Wide Intro
Welcome to the first entry to what we hope will become a regular entry into our blog and our YouTube or IGTV channels. We thought it would be worth talking a bit more about this video series, namely, why are we doing it and how it was born.
The idea came up during the first week of the local effects of the global Covid19 pandemic. We were hit hard with cancellations and postponements, and really struggling to understand how to deal with this new way of life, in particular in our business (both Gillian and I are somewhat naturally personally self-isolating, so that part wasn't that hard!). The news was covered in headlines about how this is negatively affecting the economy, and obviously we were not the only ones to be confused. I was wondering, what the heck are other people doing? How are people coping? What amazing ideas do people have to get through this?
We realized, with our skills and personalities, we had almost a duty and obligation to tell these stories and share them with the world, in the hopes of helping our business community know they are not alone, and inspire them with ideas and positivity.
At first when things weren't so strict, it seemed like we could do these in person, if we maintained our 2 m distance. This would have demanded a strange composition, with the interviewer (me!) oddly far from the interviewee...a weirdly wide framing, if you will! It quickly became obvious we'd have to do it online, but the name stuck, and maybe some day we'll bring it back to a weirdly wide in-person format.
Our first episode features Jarrod Stanton, partner with Action Edge Business Coaching, and our own business coach. Given his experience and exposure to so many businesses, in particular at this time, we felt he would make a perfect intro to this series, and our interview with him turned out great. There was so much great content we've actually divided it into two parts. You can catch the first one at the link below.
Weirdly Wide Sessions: Jarrod Stanton Part 1

Please enjoy, and we hope you get something out of it. We'd love to hear your thoughts and comments below, and if you can recommend other inspiring business owners, send them our way!
