Not all bags of coffee are created equal!
We've continued to refine our product photography services over the last while, and so we want to continue to help our startup 'makers' get great shots through our series of product photography tips - which help them get the most out of our 'Drop-Off' and 'Basic' service levels.
We had the chance to photograph a friend's coffee a while back and took the opportunity to write down some of the best practices we discovered.
Choose the best bag.
Even though to the casual viewer, your coffee bags look AMAZING, if you pay attention to the small details, there are packaging flaws, in even the biggest brand names. The one you want to share online is the very best example. Once people get it and enjoy your product, they likely won't notice or care about small things.
- Labels are straight
- Most even closure
- Least wrinkles, creases, or bends in the material
- Fewest scratches
- Ideal and typical 'fullness'
Blow all dust off
As with all product photography, dust is the enemy, and to save time in post-production, make sure it's clean.
- Our cameras are very high res
- We shoot with super bright lights, which allows us to use camera settings that make everything in focus
- It will capture every bit of dust
- TAKE OFF ALL THE DUSTS!
Remove finger prints and dirt
The same goes for finger prints as for dust - so get rid of them!
- Use a microfiber cloth to rub them off
- Especially important on plastic and/or shiny surfaces
- If you're having trouble and it's a waterproof surface you can try some lens cleaner fluid, or just a little warm breath on it, before rubbing with microfibre cloth
We've had the chance to put together some interesting packages to help people get started in e-commerce - for example, 3 basic shots, plus 3 slightly more staged options, for a set price. If that's something that's interesting to you, just inquire here.
You can also opt for our 'On-Demand' timing, and 'Premium' service - which are a bit more expensive, but take care of any issues like the above, gets you your shots at your convenience and not ours, and includes more detailed post-production.
