Do you have an e-commerce store, or are you just starting one?
Or maybe you are you wondering how to set yourself up for more sales, while also keeping your overhead low.
We've put together a physically safe, low cost drop-off product photography service, by paring down our product photography to the bare minimum, while still offering something professional. Designed as a starter for people just opening their e-commerce businesses, what you get is:
Basic item preparation
Does that sound a little better than your item photographed on your kitchen counter with a bedside lamp? The question is, how do we make that inexpensive. We have pared down our regular service, to lower our overhead, so that we can pass that savings on to you, and it includes:
Studio standard lighting
Studio choice setup – table top, light tent, or flatlay
One item at a time
Table top, flatlay, or light tent setups
No models for safety reasons
A blower or lint roller only will be used for item prep – no polishing, ironing, steaming, or other intensive preparations
Minor post-production – only very minor adjustments: colour, contrast, and brightness, and putting on a pure white background
One Price Fits All – you don’t even have to think about any options, so less time wondering about things.
Compare that with our regular product photography approach. For our custom service, in the back of our minds we’re always imagining 10,000 sets of eyeballs look at these photos on your e-commerce site, picking up on the least flaw or incongruity, so we go the extra mile to make things look perfect. When you’re just starting out, you don’t have 10,000 sets of eyeballs picking apart the flaws – so we basically took something like 50% of that work out (the parts not directly related to clicking the shutter button), to offer something more affordable. Our regular approach is based on making sure that your product photos truly reflect your brand, professionalism, and can stand up to intense scrutiny. That looks like this:
In Person: a consultation to understand your needs, the lighting you like, the different items you need shot;
On Set: A long time is spent making it look as perfect as possible in camera: ironing, steaming, polishing, taping, clipping, adjusting the lighting, and other fussing and farting, so we can reduce the amount of work in photoshop; and
In Photoshop: Even with all the work on set, there are always things to fix – dust, fluff, flaws, misalignments, small lighting adjustments, colour correction.
Of course, we expect that you still want your items to look awesome, and that means that some item preparation is needed. Right now, what people have is time, not money, so by providing guidance on how to do that yourselves, we can enable you to better use the resources that you have on hand.
